Resting on His Words

I've been thinking a lot lately about how good God is to provide direction and lead us into good places—even when we have no idea that a decision we're making is part of His plan. So often, He uses those very decisions for our good, further down the road. Looking back, it's so encouraging to see that, from what seemed like inconsequential intersections to the more difficult crossroads of life, God could see what was ahead. He was guiding and positioning me to be exactly where He wanted me.
It reminds me of Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

I'm so thankful that even when I can’t see around the bend in the road, God already knows what’s coming. I don’t have to worry about it—I just need to follow Him.
God said He has thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give us an expected end (Jeremiah 29:11). As I listen to people around me who aren’t serving God, I realize just how much He has blessed me. There's such security and peace in knowing that God knows exactly where I am and where I need to go. I don’t have to have everything figured out. I don’t need to see the whole “map,” so to speak. I can simply trust Him to give me the direction I need at every step—and He always does. He provides everything I need.
A phrase from a verse I read earlier this week stood out and ties in with all of this. It’s from when Jerusalem was under siege by the king of Assyria. Hezekiah was king at the time, and he told the people not to be afraid, because they had the Lord God to help them and fight their battles. What really struck me was how the people responded to his words:“...and the people rested themselves upon the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.” (2 Chronicles 32:8)
That phrase—“rested themselves”—made me think about the peace, comfort, and stability that God gives His people. Even in the midst of a bad situation, we can rest on His promises. He will direct us, take care of us, and think good thoughts toward us, as long as we’re listening for His voice and seeking Him with our whole heart.
So to wrap this up—I’m just incredibly thankful for the hope and rest we can have when we trust in God. I'm excited about what He’s doing right here and looking forward to the future. It’s such a relief to know that, even with all the unknowns between now and the end of our journey, we can still expect good things along the way. God sees it all. We just need to follow Him.
We can relax and enjoy each day, not afraid of the bends in the road—because whatever is around the corner is no surprise to the One who is navigating this thing called life for us.
